Iceland is Opening
The government of Iceland has announced that everyone that has been vaccinated or has had a prior Covid-19 infection will be allowed to visit Iceland without undergoing quarantine upon arrival (From 26th March). The appropriate paperwork must be issued to allow clients into the country along with a negative PCR test prior to arrival, and then a PCR test will also be taken on arrival.
After thousands of earthquakes over the past few weeks a volcanic eruption started last Friday evening- The Fagradalsfjall volcano is located on Reykjanes peninsula close to Reykjavik but at the moment it poses no threat to anyone.
Visiting the Volcano
The area is open to public but should be visited with extreme caution, taking weather conditions into consideration. It’s possible to both hike to the location or fly over it in helicopters or planes from Reykjavik. What a start to your Icelandic adventure, to take a helicopter over an erupting Volcano, history in the making!
